Walter is by far the finest, most clear headed dog I have ever owned. Once I decide that there is a threat, he goes to full kill mode in less than a split second.
There is just no comparison in the speed of a Mal to a Shep. He moves so fast that you can actually miss the bites he delivers.....you just see this blur go by and next he's attached to someone's body parts.
The cool part is that with just two words, " out" and then "here", he goes to total calm mode at my side, relaxed, quiet and approachable.
He just "gets it"......although when it comes to the kids his protection is a bit over the top.......no one, other than Ania and I can even attempt to go near the kids with out an instant response or aggression from him.
It's cool to watch cause he leans, his butt up-against the child and places his head (teeth) and body between the child and the person.....never allowing the threat to come between him and the child.... while all hell breaks loose on the teeth end the butt pushes the child in the opposite direction of the threat... then there are numerous times he turns to look at the child and give the intermittent lick on the hand or face as if to reassure that everything is ok.
It's really the only time that he won't turn off instantly....he will come to me reluctantly leaving the child.... then lays next to me but you can't possibly make him stop growling until the child or the intruder is gone.

In the car, esp. at a stop (gas stations and car washes) when someone approaches he dives in-front of the child between the window and to child (who is in the car seat) and chews on the glass as if to say just try me...please open this window.
I don't know where the instinct/breeding ends and the training begins... I think that the "on switch" in genetic and the off switch is training.
My only fear .....if anything would ever happen to him , i just don't know how you could replace him for me.
That 's another thing....all my friends in the dog world want to breed to him....
Chris C. wants to breed him to his bitch, Chris B. has a Bitch Mal
that's a PSA 1 that he wants to breed him to.
Chris C. has said Walter is one of the top 5 protection dogs he has ever seen!
Try to replace that!!

When he passed after 13 years I wanted another Boxer. As I started looking I realized that the “American” standard was not what I had envisioned a Boxer should look like. They had delicate frames with longer noses. My old Boxer was stout with broad shoulders and a large head. I could not find what I considered a true Boxer anywhere, so I gave up. Years later, after I married, my wife and I decided we should buy a dog. I already knew what I was looking for, so I picked up where I had left off. This time I came across a KWD ad. I called David and explained to him exactly what I wanted and he knew what I was talking about. In about a month he had located the first dog, “Rudy”. David sent a video of Rudy for us to look at. I knew instantly David had located the perfect dog for us. Rudy was stout, with a nice head, broad shoulders and very athletic. A month later Rudy was in my living room!! I cannot say enough good things about this dog. He has truly become a member of my family. Marjorie and I have a seven month old little girl and Rudy could not love her more, but at the same time he is the best guard dog I have ever seen! Rudy is very protective over my family. When I am away on business I know I am leaving my family in good hands. I am 100% sure he would die trying to protect them. We have nothing but unconditional love for him and I know the feeling is mutual.
After six months had gone by, and my parents saw how great Rudy was, they asked me to contact David for them. They wanted a Boxer also. In a short time David located “Ibo”. Once again, David delivered. My parents could not be happier. Every time I visit them, my mother says, “I never knew a dog could be this good.” My parents experience with Ibo parallels mine with Rudy.
If I could give any advice to people looking for the perfect dog, it would be to contact KWD. Let them help you find what you are looking for. David’s service to my family has been outstanding, and it continues. Even after we took delivery of our dogs David has stayed in touch to make sure things are going great. It is nice to know that there are people like David and KWD, still around. We appreciate them very much.

I want to thank you for your work with me in locating the perfect working dog to fit my needs. After being notified of my pending transfer to the Canine Division of the Charleston Police Department in June of 2005, I began my search for a dog. I contacted approximately 15 kennels around the country. KWD was the ONLY kennel that was able to locate the exact dog that I was looking for! I needed a green dog suitable for a green handler, which would be sociable with both other animals and people. I was also looking specifically for a Dutch Shepherd. “Natas” arrived at the end of July of 2005, it was Quickly obvious that you had indeed found the dog I was looking for. Natas was very sociable with me and my family, and began playing with the two other dogs immediately. After three months of training, Natas certified through NAPWDA (North American Police Work Dog Association) without a problem! He certified in Tracking, Evidence Search, Area Search, Aggression, and four Narcotics odors. During his first year on the street, he quickly became the leader in all areas in our K-9 Division of five dogs. In October of 2006 Natas completed his second NAPWDA certification and easily gained the title of “Patrol Utility Dog”. He is a favorite among the patrol and narcotics divisions and seems to enjoy working every bit as much as he enjoys playing with other officers. He is extremely social and does very well in public relations situations. We could not have found a better dog to represent our department. We have two dogs due to retire over the next year or two, and will look to KWD first for a suitable replacements.
Sincerely,

As you know, I spent months looking for the right source for an executive protection dog that I would be comfortable with considering my small children and my oldest daughter who has had a long standing fear of dogs. When you and I first began to work together to find the right dog, your expertise and willingness to find an exceptional animal was the reason I chose KWD. Despite the rigid set of requirements I had, you found the dog I had hoped for.
When you arrived with Perry I was thrilled to see the most beautiful (not to mention intimidating!) German Shepard I had ever seen, but I was not certain my kids would ever feel like they could hug this beast! His precise attention to commands and his intelligence were remarkable and you know as we worked with him for the few days you stayed with us he began to become my dog. Now one year later, this perfect specimen is sleeping in the hall after playing with us all day in the backyard. He is a thing of beauty. Power, precision and affection all wrapped up in a show dog quality German Shepard!
I can only tell you that Perry is the most intelligent, well mannered, affectionate, playful, fearless and loyal dog I have ever known, not to mention that he is so ferocious looking that anyone who sees him freezes until we give them the ok. He has cured my oldest daughter of her fear, in fact she even complains if we don’t bring him on vacation! My littlest, Haley, can play with him, even dress him up and he loves it. I am incredibly proud of Perry and brag about him to the point of embarrassment.
In summary, I am thrilled with all you have done for us and look forward to seeing you on your next trip east. The whole family is talking about breeding Perry because we would love to have his puppies running around the house! Many thanks and we wish you a great holiday. Enclosed find the family Christmas Card with Perry in the photo!

I wanted to personally thank you for your assistance in locating me a Dobermann puppy. I have felt extremely comfortable from the beginning with our dealing and feel that KWD have done an excellent job at locating me the appropriate dog that would fit my personal needs and desires.
I was impressed with the time you personally spent with me gaining information from me as to what type of dog I wanted and your complete knowledge regarding various aspects of the Dobermann breed, as well as offering me several choices of dogs that were trained to various degrees.
You made this process enjoyable and as a result, I have two new friends. I couldn't be happier with my puppy, "Yago". He and I have a true bond and he is one of the best dogs I have ever owned.
Thanks again for all your help in locating and shipping me my new friend.

I would like to take this opportunity again to thank you for everything you have done for us. As you know, Hady, CDX SchH I is the queen of the castle and love of our life. From the start, you listened to what we were looking for in a dog and selected the perfect puppy. Your comprehensive seminars here in Kentucky every year have allowed us to take all of our dogs to the next level. Last month, we were able to attend a trial in Indianapolis with 10 dogs that you had helped develop, and every one of them passed! As proud as I am of this fact, I know that you must be just as proud to share in this accomplishment.
As well, I referred to you my client for the purchase of two dogs that they received just recently. They cannot be happier. The dogs are so much more than what they expected, and have acclimated to their family perfectly. In an ironic turnaround, the husband (who we both know was skeptical from the start) brought the dog to the Indianapolis trial to show him in conformation. You should have seen it! The dog won the Working Male class, with the USA national breed Judge telling the crowd, “This dog is obviously in a class all by itself.” He told the owner, your client, that he had a lot to be proud of with this dog, and hoped to seem him again at the Sieger show in Connecticut. Well, this man went from skeptic to profoundly obsessed with this dog. Last I saw, he was having Dag’s picture painted on his car door! Thankfully, the wife bought two from you. She has hers that they are absolutely nuts about, and he has Dag, the male, that he can claim as his dog.

What is nice for me, David, is being able to confidently refer you, and have your help when I need it. You work so hard to go the extra mile, and it shows. I can trust that you are going to be amiable and fair. When I refer you, it makes me look good, because you listen to what people are asking of you, and are honest with them. I very much respect this in a person. I know that sometimes you say the things that I or others may not want to hear, but you do so in a logical manner and looking out for our best interests, and I truly appreciate this. All of the people that I have referred to you, and other clients of yours that I have met along the way, have been just as pleased or more as I am with your service. I am glad to see your hard work and endeavors paying off. You truly deserve it.
As you know, the new facility is coming along, and we hope to open soon. Already, my clients are coming to me asking how soon after we open can we get you to come back for another seminar. I certainly hope we can do this in the near future.
Thank you, KWD, and keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
David and Susan H.

This letter of recommendation for KWD comes with a strong satisfaction of service provided by David and his company. Because of the nature of this business of finding, matching and placing a K-9 to meet a persons needs I am aware it is a science and art of which we have been very impressed with how KWD has executed their mission.
The most important aspect of our recommendation is not from flawless placement but of the integrity to keep working with my family and organization to find the best match that we most liked. When a company put a guarantee on their animals it normally is not worth the paper it is on or worth the expense to fight for. The case with KWD is the complete opposite. David and his team of professionals have not only replaced but went the extra mile literally “to Germany” to find what we really desired and needed.
We now have not one, but TWO wonderful working dogs as a result of hard work and dedication of KWD to meet our highest expectation of the best dogs out there at realistic and value pricing.
I welcome your questions so feel free to call or email via my website. Also, please know this is not a compensated endorsement.
Sincerely,

I am writing to request that you list me as a reference for your organization, KWD. I appreciate the personal attention and extra effort your organization has taken to ensure that the right dog is placed with my family.
It was a challenge to find a dog that I can trust around my family, friends and other pets, and yet perform and protect in the manner that I require. You and your staff took the time to find the right dog for us, for that I will always be grateful. It is not often that I do business with organizations that say what they mean and mean what they say.
“KWD is committed to serving YOU...” “What makes our services different from the other guy is that we take extra special care to ensure that we make that perfect match between Protector/Companion and their new family!”
When the time comes to replace our awesome German Shepherd Dog, I will not hesitate to contact you again. Please feel free to have prospective clients looking for a personal and family protection dog contact me by phone or email.
Sincerely,

I have been in law Enforcement since 1975. My first K-9 (was a Female German Shepard dog) I never saw the Certification from Germany like I was told. My Second K-9 was an Irish setter, Drug dog, and again I did not see the papers. My third Dog was and Air force K-9 rejects German Shepard. This dog had papers but they were copies. Maverick (Air Force Reject) was with me for 14 years. After Maverick I had a Blood Hound. I had the Blood Hound until I retired in 2003. In 2005 I started looking for a K-9 dog of a specific caliber. I researched many numerous companies. I found KWD as one of the most informed and knowing companies yet. I purchased a Level 4 European protection dog from them. My expectations were far exceeded. I received “real” papers. I received Real Health certificate Real European AKC papers and even the Breeder name and Phone Number in Belgian. I am a Certified Trainer for K-9 on the Kohler method of Training. My Bouvier “Cloe” from KWD far exceeds any training I have ever seen. Just recently my mother passed away. I had to leave on a Sunday afternoon and Drive to Calif. Cloe sat in my car with 5 family members for over 12 hours. Cloe never once urinated in the car of defecated in the car. She far exceeded any expectations I had with her. I stayed at a relative’s home who was quite elderly and did not want any dogs in her home. After the first day in her home my relative wanted me to “GIVE “ her my dogs. My Aunt had never seen such a well behaved animal in her life. I would never again seek out any other dog company for my dog. As my family grows, all my children will get their dogs from Dave and Josh. If any purchaser should have any doubts, please contact myself or my wife and we will tell you quite honestly, KWD. is by far the best in the West!!

After a year with Zeus, I wanted to give you an update on his status. Zeus is now a solid member of the family. His intelligence, willingness to please, companionship and total devotion to the family is unsurpassed by any previous dog I have ever owned. I am very pleased and satisfied with the purchase of Zeus. While I normally do not give endorsements of any sort, I wanted you to know that Zeus is a terrific dog.
